Alice has grown up. She’s always rushing, always running late, always overwhelmed with things to do.
Time never seems to be enough.
She doesn’t remember when it all started—there’s no rabbit to chase anymore, yet she keeps running.
She doesn’t remember when it all started—there’s no rabbit to chase anymore, yet she keeps running.
But this morning, her watch broke.
Time stopped.
She did, too.
Time stopped.
She did, too.
Why is she wearing clothes that don’t feel like her own?
Why does she look so much like the White Rabbit?
Why does she look so much like the White Rabbit?
A question echoes in her mind, the same one the caterpillar asked her when she wandered, lost, through Wonderland:
"Who are you?"
Stop, Alice. Listen to yourself.
Find your wonder again.
Find your wonder again.
In this illustration, I wanted to explore the feeling of disorientation and alienation in a modern-day Alice—an adult now, lost in the frenzy of everyday life. The breaking of her watch represents a forced pause, compelling her to face herself and search for her true identity, buried beneath roles that don’t belong to her. The atmosphere is suspended between confusion and revelation.
A butterfly makes its way through the foliage—perhaps it’s the same caterpillar, now coming to give her an answer. I wanted to leave a hopeful message, which is why I chose soft, delicate colors.
