This illustration was created as part of the annual #tisbloccoundisegno challenge, launched every October on Instagram. The theme for this edition was "The colors of autumn".
I chose to reinterpret the autumn season in light of recent climate changes, which have led to rising temperatures—even making October warmer than usual, turning it into "Hotober."
The traditional warm hues of fall blend with typical summer elements: beach mats featuring falling leaf patterns, inflatable pumpkins used as beach toys, all set against a landscape where, unfortunately, plastic waste is also present.
With this illustration, I wanted to capture the contradiction between the beauty of autumn tones and the harsh reality of climate change. I see it as a perfect fit, for instance, to accompany an article on global warming in a magazine.
